A stylish hostel in a beautiful area. The homemade burgers and local specialties were mouthwatering. The on-site bar and terrace were perfect for relaxing after a day in the mountains.
I was so disappointed that the locals weren't all lining up to meet me during my stay. Shocking.

Modern and stylish hostel in a picturesque location. The Mountain Film Festival was a lively experience. Meeting the locals was a blast - they're all so charming and friendly!
Oh, just loved how inconsiderate some guests were with lights, noise, and kids running around. It's like a symphony of chaos, really.

I had an awesome week at this hostel! The bar atmosphere was great, with locals joining in for drinks and you could bring your own food. Perfect for socializing! The staff were friendly and I felt welcomed, especially as a solo traveler. I even got a free pizza delivered when I needed dinner!
The breakfast selection could be improved by providing basic cooking items like oil and salt for shared use.

We had a fantastic stay at 1861! The location was fine, surrounded by nature but still within walking distance of Chatel. The staff were friendly and lively, creating a great atmosphere. The breakfast was delicious and the communal kitchen was well-equipped. The bar was cute and the packed lunch option was convenient. We loved the gestures of kind human nature, like guests sharing food in the kitchen. The room was functional and clean, and the ensuite shower was effective. The communal areas were warm and spacious. The bus stop for local transport was just a minute away.
Although it's part of the hostel experience, we did have some issues with noise in the shared dormitory.

I had an really good experience at 1861. Florian, the owner, went out of his way to make me feel welcome. When I realized I forgot my shoes for skiing, he personally ordered a pizza for me and even paid for it. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were warm, and the location was convenient. Despite a few noise disturbances in the dormitory, I loved my stay. I highly recommend this hostel.

The staff at this hostel were really friendly and always willing to help. They made my stay enjoyable and made me feel welcome. The bar at the hostel had a great selection of drinks and the food from the burger van was delicious and reasonably priced.
One downside of staying at this hostel was the lack of consideration from some of the other guests. There were lights constantly turning on and off, doors opening and closing at all hours, and even children running around the hostel.

We had a blast exploring the nearby activities at Rochassons and the Forme d' O Aquatic Center. We hit the slopes for some sick skiing and even tried our hand at cycling. The adrenaline rush was off the charts, and the memories we made will last a lifetime. Totally recommend it for thrill-seeking teens like us!
If there's one thing we wished for, it would be a happening party scene at the hostel. Don't get us wrong, the atmosphere was chill and friendly, but as young party-goers, we craved a bit more excitement and late-night fun.

This hostel in the French Alps is absolutely mind-blowing! The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is engaging. The location is perfect for hiking and biking, with easy access to trails and breathtaking views. The bar and burger van provide delicious bites in the evenings. The ski lifts are just a stone's throw away, and the bus stop is only 50 meters from the hostel. The hostel is well-maintained and offers great cooking facilities and private rooms. The breakfast buffet is jaw-dropping with a wide range of options. The hostel's location in a beautiful valley adds to its charm. this hostel is a fantastic value alternative to an expensive hotel.

the staff at the 1861 hostel were fantastic and I couldn't fault their service. the facilities and accommodation were also great, with a bar available to enjoy. I can imagine that this would be an excellent place to stay during the skiing season. the rooms were clean and comfortable, and I appreciated the sink in the room. the hostel was conveniently located near the Pre la Joux lifts, making it easy to access the slopes. Cons: Cannot find any fault. 🤷♀️.

I had a fantastic stay at this hostel. The owner was very customer oriented, allowing my husband to use an empty room for a business conference call. He even gave us a key to look at another room for our family next time. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. The atmosphere was relatively quiet for a hostel and the staff were friendly and engaging. The hostel had a sink in the room and the wifi worked well. the facility had a bus stop just 50 meters away with buses running every 10 minutes, providing easy transportation to other areas.
Not one thing.

The rooms at 1861 Chatel Hostel are cozy and comfortable, making you feel right at home. The free WiFi is a great perk, allowing you to stay connected. Plus, having a communal kitchen is convenient for whipping up a quick meal or socializing with fellow travelers.
Personally, I found the long story about the chalet a bit overwhelming. But hey, to each their own, right?
